Hi, I'm Heidi 👋
I’ve been working in the counselling space for the past five years, after a light-bulb moment during an Aussie drought nudged me towards studying counselling and psychology.
Most of my experience has been with rural communities affected by natural disasters, and more recently, I’ve worked with a state ambulance service, supporting first responder personnel through the tough stuff they face.
On paper, I hold a Diploma in Counselling, a Bachelor in Psychological Science, and fourth year study in Psychology (Honours equivalent). For my honours thesis, I dug into how people in rural areas make decisions about their health and where they get their information. What stood out was just how much place-based, honest, and easy-to-access support matters when it comes to reaching out for help.
My counselling style is person-centred, evidence-informed, and strengths-based. I’m not here to dish out advice (you know what they say about dragging a horse to water), but to help you spot your own strengths, reflect on your experiences, and feel genuinely heard. Together, we’ll make room for real, lasting change.

Let’s work things out together
We’ll talk through what’s going on for you, explain how we work, and help you decide what feels right.
Our counselling is good AF.
Here's how we're a bit different.
We know life can get a little... well, you know. We offer the kind of therapy that’s for every kind of brain — whether you’re in a certain kind of season or you’re looking for ongoing support. Our therapy is down-to-earth, practical, and evidence-based. It’s an approach grounded in lived experience from both sides of the rural New South Wales and Queensland border, as well as solid training in psychology and neuroscience.
There’s no such thing as a standard session at Therapeutic AF. We meet you where you are to deliver the most practical therapy for you.
Depending on what you need, sessions might include:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Mindfulness, practical strategies, and a bit of humour where it helps
We’re big on building trust in a comfortable way and we just want to give you the tools you need to feel more like you. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, trauma, ADHD, burnout, or just want to feel better day to day.
Our practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodivergent-friendly, and welcomes people from all backgrounds. We’re Therapeutic AF and we’re for every kind of brain.

Frequently Asked Questions
New to counselling or just have some questions? These FAQs cover the essentials, but if you need more info, we’re here to help.
Who do you work with?
Sessions are for teens aged 12 and up, young adults, adults, and first responders—especially those living in rural or regional Queensland.
If you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, or just feel like “life’s a bit much,” you’re in the right place.
What kinds of issues can we talk about?
Common topics include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, tough life events, burnout, relationship dramas, or feeling lost after things like droughts or bushfires. If it’s bothering you, we can talk about it.
How much does it cost, and can I use Medicare?
Sessions are set at a lower fee because Medicare rebates aren’t available. If you’ve got questions about cost, just ask in your enquiry.
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes, absolutely. You can book online sessions from anywhere in Australia. It’s private, easy, and means distance or a busy life won’t get in the way of getting support. Outreach support is also available in Toowoomba area.
Can parents or carers be involved in sessions?
If you’re a younger client or just want a bit of support, parents or carers can be involved, especially early on. It’s your call, and we’ll chat together about what feels right
